Children may have more entertainment at their fingertips than ever before, yet parents tell us that getting imaginative play started can sometimes feel difficult. Our prompt cards help bridge that first hurdle with a simple idea, then leave children free to decide what happens next.

Each card begins with an open-ended story starter designed to get imaginations moving. There is no right answer, no fixed ending and no need for a complicated setup.
Choose a story starter that catches your child’s eye.
Maybe strange footprints have appeared outside the zoo. Perhaps smoke is rising above the castle. Or a rocket-powered fortress has taken off for somewhere unexpected.
Join in for a minute if they need you, then hand the story over. Who are the characters? What is the problem? What happens next? That is entirely up to them.
